This project involved the refurbishment of an existing light industrial building into a contemporary, welcoming and relevant church facility. The building benefits from modern minimalist spaces, with the outward appearance reflecting the lively and welcoming nature of the church’s community.
The rectilinear form of the existing building provided an excellent frame for a contemporary civic exterior. The large porte-cochere and words of welcome above the entrance add to this sanctuary amidst the proximate commercial buildings. The final result does however sit well against the backdrop of the light industrial area of the city’s urban fringe and the Inner City Bypass, from which the building’s radiance is visible at night.
