| » Return to recent news July 29 2009 Quality living for Hong Kong elderly As the Hong Kong population continues to age, the more affluent elderly set a higher expectation on the quality of retirement living. Meeting the demand for quality retirement facilities is the Hong Kong Housing Society with support from ThomsonAdsett. ThomsonAdsett has been formally appointed Project Development Consultant for the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) during the development of a number of senior residences. ThomsonAdsett's role is to provide an intensive consultancy program of advice and guidance to the Hong Kong Housing Society in developing business solutions for the introduction of a retirement living product within the Hong Kong market. ThomsonAdsett, with the assistance of Austrade (through initial introductions), has led two international study tours for the Hong Kong Housing Society, specifically to investigate, research and study international models of retirement community development in Japan, December 2008 and more recently Australia, April 2009. These very successful tours have provided members of the Hong Kong Housing Society with information on the business models, design standards, operational and management requirements to deliver an internationally comparable product within the Hong Kong market. The Hong Kong Housing Society is developing two projects located in Tanner Hill and adjacent to the Wetland Park, with an estimated value in excess of a billion dollars (Hong Kong). ThomsonAdsett brings experience of having completed two retirement facilities- Jolly Place and Cheerful Court for the Hong Kong Housing Society in 2003 and 2004 respectively. A total of 576 units for the elderly are fully occupied, with a long waiting list reflecting the strong demand for quality retirement living options. ThomsonAdsett will work with the Special Committee Elderly Housing and the Executive and Project Teams of the Hong Kong Housing Society in collaboration with specialist consultants appointed by the Hong Kong Housing Society. |
